Selected images from the recent Commission for Green Legacy Hiroshima to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Japan in 2020.
The works were created using natural fibres from the surviving trees from the attack on Hiroshima in 1945 - known as the Hibaku Jumoku. The fibres were fired onto clay in a Japanese Ittekoi wood kiln on 18th March 2020 at Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park, Japan.
The completed works will be shared with GLH’s partners around the world who have nurtured seeds and saplings from the Hibaku Jumoku, creating new trees in the spirit of hope, peace and an end to the use of atomic weapons.
