In 2021 Amanda was invited by the Japanese Embassy in London and Oxford University Anagama Project to produce a series of new sculptures for a group exhibition showcasing wood firing ceramic techniques.

Her works entitled ‘Tane’ (pronounced Ta-Ne) meaning ‘Seed’ in Japanese, were inspired by her ongoing interest in the aftermath of the atomic bombing of Japan in 1945 and the surviving trees of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

A group exhibition ‘Ash Ember Flame’ curated by Dr Robin Wilson (Oxford University) and Callum Forbes (Japanese Embassy) featured works from a wide range of artists and makers. The show previewed in December 2021 at the Japanese Embassy and continues at Oxford University Harris Manchester College.
